On September 13th, Beijing Municipality, jointly with China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), held a special event commemorating the developments of China’s National Technology Transfer Cluster and the China International Technology Transfer Center (CITTC). Mr. Cao Jianlin, Deputy Minister of MOST, and Mr. Zhang Gong, Deputy Mayor of Beijing Municipality, signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement ensuring the continued development efforts of the cluster between MOST and Beijing Municipality. During the meeting, the two parties jointly unveiled the plaques of National Technology Transfer Cluster and the China International Technology Transfer Center.

The cluster area is located in the Zhongguancun West Zone in Beijing’s Haidian District. Buoyed by the goal of constructing a high-tech zone dedicated to technology transfer and knowledge exchange, Zhongguancun is proving to be one of the most intensive science, education and talent resource bases in China. It boasts almost 40 colleges and universities, including Peking University and Tsinghua University; more than 200 national scientific institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering; 67 state-level laboratories; 28 national engineering and technological research centers; 24 university science and technology parks; and, 29 overseas student pioneer parks.

Offering various forms of government support, the CITTC has recently become a hub of international research and business exchange within Zhongguancun. Supporting policies, project funding, access to Chinese and foreign partners, and rental subsidies are some of the services provided by the CITTC.
